Welcome
to St Paul airlines online division. This department belongs to you,
the pilots, and YOU are giving rise and life to its activity. Organize
your own tours, set up meetings with SPA, communicate, fly together. We supply the tools
and you make the fun!
To participate you have to download and install some specific tools-addons: TEAMSPEAK 2 for voice communication, SKYPE for a lighter type of voice communication adapted for 2 to 4 pilots together, [for FSX pilots only, FSHOST for sharing the session and see other pilots aircrafts (not required for FS9)] and PLAN-G for VFR flight-planning and moving map facility.
Here are the direct links to the required downloads (free!):
You
will find all instruction for the setting up of these programs on
the respective web sites, following the links provided above.

Simple rules
- The pilot who organise the
event is the person in charge and all participants, whatever their
rank, should follow his instructions.
- Any pilot who does not wish to lead the group, despite
the fact that he is the organizer, can choose another participant to manage the
flight.
- All pilots should have their flightsim set to no
damage in case of accident.
- All meeting time should be established in ZULU time
only.
PIREP
As
“online flying” is a creative activity, generally you will not find
fixed predetermined schedules with all the usual entries and flight
numbers.
Therefore, if you wish to register your online sessions and fill a
PIREP, do as follow:
- just enter de departure and arrival ICAO (arrival =
last landing airfield)
- departure (engine on) and arrival time at the last
airport (engine off)
- Total flight time (decimal)
- aircraft used (+ all the usual entries you wish to indicate but not mandatory)
- in the comment section enter the name(s) of the pilot(s)
who shared the session
- as flight number always use the same number, that is 9-online

How to
set up your own online session
|
The simplest
way:
- Imagine a tour
around any airport (30 minutes to 2 hours)
- Launch your
flight simulator
- Choose an
aircraft and go to the departure airport
- Launch Teamspeak
and FSHOST
- Use the Shout Box
to call pilots who are present on the web site. Say something like; “Skippy
online tour ready for immediate takeoff – go to KMSP – time 11 am – weather fine
– for props aircrafts - keep out of the runway”
- Wait for some
10-15 minutes so that participants have time to join
- As soon as you
have radio contact(s) through Teamspeak explain what you want to do... you are
the boss for this flight, no matter your rank.
Enjoy your
flight!
|
A simple way:
- Prepare the
tour that you want to set up (departure airport, approximate flight time,
arrival airport, etc) and when you want to organise your “event”.
- Post an
invitation in the forum > Special Ops
Division > Special Ops Online Multiplayers Flights. In the title just
mention: “Online flight – date – time”.
In the
invitation indicate departure and arrival airports + en route stop over –
meeting time (ZULU time) – departure time (ZULU time) – Flight simulator time
and weather settings – Type of aircraft used: props, turbo props, single or
twin engines, jet, etc.
- Ask to the
participants to enrol answering to your thread in the forum.
- Post your
event in the SCHEDULE EVENT CALENDER on the SPA home web page.
- At the time of
the event, put a call in the Shout Box for possible participants who did not
register.
Be active,
organise your event, share the fun! Top of page |
A more sophisticated way
- Use PLAN-G or
any similar program to plan your online flight and produce a planning and a map
of the projected tour.
- Advertise your
future online event in the forum as usual, a few days in advance and do not
forget to enter the event in the SPA calendar.
- On the same message
you should post the flight-plan and the map.
- Try to keep
the total flight time with the stopover between 1-2 hours
- Specify which
types of aircrafts are invited to participate (do not forget that is is great
fun to mix helicopters wuth slow props aircrafts).
- Maybe you can
imagine a whole online tour in 6 or 7 online sessions.
- First of all,
don’t be shy, put yourself in the first row and do not hesitate to use your
imagination. All this is not so serious... it’s just a game to have fun together.
Why
not try to organise online events in the region where you live and
invite your SPA friends for a commented tour. It is not only great
fun... we could learn something!
|
IMPORTANT:
You do not know where to start your online adventures, you do not know
where to go, you do not have flight-planning tools, you want to make it easy...
or you are simply lazy. Don’t panic! You have thousands of short VFR hops
available in the Bush Operations and Special Operations Division. Just select
the one you want to fly online, post your invitation, and you should find
somebody willing to share the fun. Just a word about PIREP, in this case, just use the flight number 9-online.
What I suggest is that when you intend to fly any VFR flight, instead of
staying alone, just go online and put a word in the
shout box. Maybe it will take time until anybody naturally joins the fun, but isn’t
it worthy to try. What would you think of a “dream VA” in which most of the
flight would be online without the hassle of the big very serious organisations?
Because to be frank, what I am looking for is a funny way of flying together,
with jokes, laughs and friendship.
Now, just make things happen!

ONLINE TOURS, Flight-plans and maps
In this Online Flights “Subsection”, I wish to propose some tours and “round
robin” that I have especially created for multiplayers online sessions. Each
download includes a flight plan (PDF) and a map (JPG). Furthermore, all these
tours will let you visit some remarkable places and landscapes.
Please feel free to organise your own online event using my flight
plans. I have labelled and numbered each entry so that you can indicate which tour
you are scheduling on your invitation. Subsequently the participant can
download the map and flight plan in advance.
I hope that this will motivate you to fly online!
