Earn your wings as the in-house expert on your favorite aircraft!
Pilots who successfully complete their Chief Pilot (CP) rating will concurrently hold the title of "Chief Pilot, <aircraft-type>" in addition to their normal rank, and will be recognized as the airline expert for any questions pertaining to this aircraft. In order to earn the CP rating, pilots must:
- Have logged 50 hours of sim time in their chosen aircraft as attested to by their Hub Manager or the airline Vice President.
- Pass a brief aviation general knowledge exam tailored to the pilot's chosen aircraft.
- Submit an essay detailing the history of the aircraft type.
Some of the topics to be explored are:
- What were the factors that motivated this aircraft's development?
- Who were the principal designers of the aircraft?
- When was the aircraft designed?
- When was its first flight?
- What was the objective in the development of the aircraft?
- What airlines employ the aircraft?
- What is the current state of the aircraft fleet?
- What is the future of this aircraft?
The CP Panel consists of the following personnel:
- Vice President of Training, Saint Paul Airlines (Panel Chairman)
- President, Saint Paul Airlines
- Vice President of Operations, Saint Paul Airlines
